The Lithuanian company Granta Autonomy unveiled the X-WING, a new air-launched munition system combining vertical takeoff with the autonomy of a fixed-wing aircraft.
Weighing 12 kg, the system was developed to provide infantry units with a portable and modular precision attack option without the need for specialized launchers. The X-WING has a range of up to 50 km and carries a 4 kg hybrid warhead, capable of targeting both armored and light targets.
The drone works in tandem with the Hornet XR, creating a “sensor-to-strike” system that integrates reconnaissance and attack. Equipped with artificial intelligence, the X-WING can navigate in hostile electronic environments, even when GPS signals are blocked or spoofed. Its AI-based targeting system also identifies camouflaged positions, while thermal and visual image sensors enable detailed terrain monitoring.
Founded in 2015, Granta Autonomy has been supplying drones to Ukrainian forces since the early days of the Russian invasion, testing its platforms under intense electronic warfare conditions. The company claims the X-WING was developed based on battlefield experience and is designed for large-scale production, with the potential for thousands of units per month.
